Prayer Requests

I go to the University of Birmingham and God is moving on the campus and the city in such a cool way! University is truly a pivotal and formative time in a young person’s life; where the belief systems and worldview of an individual are built up. Making University a very malleable time for someone in quest of something more, that this world can’t satisfy or bring answers to – this is where I have seen the curious one’s hear the gospel in a way they haven’t before!
There was a week of events that christian societies put together on campus and brought speakers in to preach on the big topics and questions of life, eg; hope, suffering, purpose, etc. Some friends of mine, that I had no idea were going to come, ended up coming to almost every event. I asked if they ever had any background with faith or religion, to which all of them answered “no”. They were so hungry to find out about Jesus and his teachings and I believe seeds were sown and watered that week, where the gospel was preached in it’s entirety. I’ve been lucky enough to engage in conversation with multiple friends, as well as strangers at uni, about Jesus and what he did on the cross for us and it’s been so fun to be a witness for God in these moments – I’ve even gotten to pray with one friend and another came to church! I have also had some funny encounters with people when I hand out water bottles outside the club on campus, between 1am and 3am, which is part of the christian union’s outreach for our university. However, that would be a story for a different blog!
From this, some prayer points would be that God would reveal himself to these hungry individuals in a personal and tangible way, as lot’s of people are open and have even said they want an encounter with God, they just haven’t felt like they have experienced one yet. To follow on from this, I would pray that the scales would fall from their eye’s so they could see God already working in their lives. Finally, there is a very secular outlook and worldview in the university, so prayer that It would be God’s word, a truth sharper than a double edged sword, that would pierce the stony hearts of man and would turn it into hearts of flesh.
Ecclesiastes 3:11 “He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also put eternity into man’s heart, yet so that he cannot find out what God has done from the beginning to the end”.
